The Brooklyn Park Fire Department is currently seeking experienced firefighters to fill several vacancies due to retirements. The academy and field training process will be significantly condensed based on a candidate’s prior fire and emergency medical experience.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements as outlined in this posting, candidates must be currently employed as a full-time career firefighter AND have at least one-year of full-time career firefighting experience in a non-probationary capacity; OR must be currently employed as a part-time firefighter with the City of Brooklyn Park
The city will offer a competitive wage based on prior experience, training, and education. The current salary range is $57,744.96- $79,410.24 per year. Lateral firefighters can receive up to 120 hours front-loaded vacation time based on prior experience, training, and education.

The Ideal Candidate The Brooklyn Park Fire Department is seeking an experienced, progressive, and motivated fire service professional. The ideal candidate will have a strong fire service background and experience as a career firefighter responding to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the Brooklyn Park Fire Department’s core values of service, trust, excellence, and professionalism.
Fire Department Serving a diverse population of over 86,000 people in the sixth-largest city in Minnesota, the Brooklyn Park Fire Department answers over 8,200 calls for service annually. The department operates from four stations, three of which are currently staffed 24 hours a day with plans to open the fourth station in 2022. As a result of comprehensive strategic and operational planning, the department continues its transition into a full-time, career organization. 12 firefighter cadets are currently being hired through a SAFER grant and will begin a 6+ month fire/EMS academy beginning at the end of February.
