Central, Region 10 – Jay Wood, their last meeting was in July and they also passed a resolution not to support the MSVFDA grant.

Regional director Wood reported that his next meeting will be April 27, 2009 and hence no report.

- Met October 27, 2008
- Legislators were present and funding issues were discussed
- Elections were held for President. All positions stayed basically the same.
- MSFDA and MSFCA are looking for alternate representatives to attend meetings in the absence of Ron Kelm, and Jay Wood.
- Next meeting January 26, 2009 in Bird Island.

Minutes from 07-26-10 in Gaylord, Mn.
Roll call showing 33 firefighters present from 7 departments, also present, Warren Jorgenson, Marshal Rosendahl, Bruce West, Tom Rommaine, and Casey Stotts.
M/M from Gaylord to accept minutes, seconded by Arlington.
No treasurer report given will go over next meeting.
Chief Dean gave a welcome; also City Administrator Kevin McCann welcomed everyone.
Special guests:
State Fire Marshal Rosendahl gave his report, noting that to date there are 24 deaths, last year 27.
-Prelim on the book Fire in Minnesota is on line, soon to be hard cover copy. The office is still working towards 100% reporting in the state. His office has a person who is able departments in need with reporting, just need to call.
-The fire marshal's office has a link on their website on NMPSRP. Look at this site for more information.
- Also on the website is the "Top 10 OSHA violations for Fire
Departments". Make sure you check this out and are in compliance with this.
- FM Rosendahl also talked about the high visibility vest and possibly soon a breakaway may be mandatory.
- The Governor has set up a task force on Shared Fire/Rescue Services. Looking at pros and cons looking at possibly saving $$$ for cities, this information will be going to local elected officials after the plan is set up.
- The training dollars process is in progress, and now getting divided out.
- Discussion on the Fire Safety Account, with about 10.5 million taken out to help with the state deficit.
- Fire day at the State Fair, get involved if you or your department can.
- Fire Prevention Week is October 3rd thru the 9th; this year's theme is "Smoke Alarms a sound you can live with".
- Kevin McGinty was hire at the SFM Office in the Training and Development division, email address is Firecode@state@mn.us.
- Fire Chiefs Conference is in Rochester this year, get signed up and get rooms as soon as you can.
Warren Jorgenson report: Warren talked about the Fire EMS Safety Center.
- the Federal Government has somewhat backed off on the 2013 deadline date for all to be on board for the 800 MHZ radio system.
- There was fewer application this year than last year for the fire grant $$$, we need to have more apply for them.
- The SAFER Grant look at and apply.
- 2010 AFG awards will be coming out mid Aug. starting to find out if refused or moving on. 2009 round 24 Minnesota department currently moving on.
- Other information on the front table to take back to your dept.
FM Stotts report: Casey said that Jerry gave such a good report that he doesn't have anything else to say.
Bruce West's report: Bruce talked about the HSEM deploying to the Wadena area after the Tornado went through, 30 plus Departments helped out with this. Note to not deploy yourself, make sure you call the Duty Officer for direction.
- Kevin Reed is now the State Response Team Coordinator, hired by HSEM for this position.
- The Decon trailers were discussed and HSEM is doing a study on them on the pros and cons with them, also going to do statewide meetings for input from departments. You may also email Bruce with anything regarding this, or comments and or questions.
- NIMS, keep moving ahead on these classes; departments should have as a minimum the 300 class, call Bruce or Warren for information if needed.
- Reimbursement on fires in the state right away, there is a state statue that you may get $$$ back if you fill out the form.
Tom Romainne report: DNR grants out the end of July keep watching out for them.
- If you have any training burn questions, call his office in New Ulm.
New Business: Minnesota Care Insurance program for firefighters available for volunteers who do not have Ins.
Events: Gaylord -Aug 13th annual Chicken Dinner 5-8 at the Fire Station. Also Stewart's has National Night Out/ Appreciation Day Aug 3rd at the Park.
Next Meeting October 25th in Glencoe.
