The mission of the Finance Committee is to provide a measure of control to the overall financial condition of the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, to review the short term, as well as the long term finances of the Association, to investigate alternative and innovative methods of financing, to ensure stability in the solicitation of revenues and to monitor and review the annual budget of the Association.
Finance Committee 2011 – Tom Cvar
The finance committee has met throughout the year reviewing the budget, the membership, and the policies that we have in place. We continue to keep in mind that Fire Dept. budgets continue to shrink with the economic times that we face and we as always monitor the funds that we have and would like to have a reserve fund balance on hand so that we can continue to operate. We would like to honor all requests that we receive whether it is for donations or requests from other committees but unfortunately we cannot accommodate them all. Believe it or not this does give us heartburn when we cannot fulfill all requests.
The budget has been stable to this point and as I write this we are hoping that the conference will be another big success this year because part of our operating budget comes from how successful we are with the conference.
As of the June meeting membership has been about the same but as always we have to send out reminders for renewals. So if you have not renewed your membership please do so.
Over the years we have put into place several policies that we follow and this year we are looking at adding another policy. We felt that we should have an investment policy that will help guide us with our funds.
Once again I would like to say Thank You to our Ex. Director Tom Brace and to our Editor- in Chief Jena Noah for a job well done which makes this committees job much easier.
